Nov. 21st, 2008 @ 11:12 pm wierd (possibly stupid) question

it sounds morbid, i know, but reading articles like this and this make me wonder if authorities can overrule the family and exhume a body. short of calling a coroner's office, i haven't been able to find out. it just sounds bizarre to me that the family would need a legal battle just to keep a loved one buried.

Sep. 14th, 2006 @ 10:48 am JonBenet Ramsey: In the Wake of John Mark Karr

One case we haven't touched on before in this community is the JonBenet Ramsey murder. Perhaps it's a little anti-climactic now that John Mark Karr has been eliminated as a suspect in her death, but it still remains unsolved and worthy of discussion. What are your thoughts? Does the emergence of John Mark Karr begin to lend credibility to the intruder theory?

Sep. 14th, 2006 @ 10:22 am Daniel Smith: Anna Nicole Suffers Memory Loss
Yesterday I asked if this story could get any weirder. Apparently, it can and did. Here's the link to a People magazine article.

Sep. 13th, 2006 @ 11:23 am Daniel Smith: Coroner's Office Says Death of Anna Nicole Smith's Son 'Suspicious'
Can this story get any weirder? Could Anna Nicole have done it in a post-partum incident? Who's the unnamed third person?

Here's the latest from CNN.

What is it with the late teens and early 20 somethings dying/disappearing in the Caribbean?

I am concerned about the possibility of parole for the prisoner Mark David Chapman, who was imprisoned in 1980 for the murder of John Lennon. I feel that this man should be denied parole. Mr. Lennon had never committed any infraction against Chapman. In fact, on the day of his murder, Mr. Lennon gave Chapman an autograph. If Chapman could kill a man he did not even know, what else is he capable of, let loose on the street?

Not only this, but he has continued to "cash in" on his fame by way of frequent press interviews, making it clear that he is more interested in maintaining his notoriety than searching for redemption through hard work. In the aforementioned interviews, the man seems to regard his merciless slaying of Mr. Lennon with a childish "I won't do it again" attitude as opposed to a true sense of remorse.

Mr. Lennon was a great asset to New York City. He frequently donated to charities, such as when he donated the finances needed for the New York Police Department to acquire bulletproof vests. It has been written that he gave one tenth of his income each year to a charity for spastic children. He constantly spoke out for peace and understanding. Now, due to this bloodthirsty act of violence, we as a world have lost a visionary of peace.

If you agree with me that this man should in no way, shape, or form be paroled this October, please sign my petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/rem128. This petition gained acclaim in the newspapers when it was first started two years ago (the last time Chapman went up for parole), and hopefully we will be able to have that success again and show that no one wants this man back on the streets. Thank you very much.

Oct. 10th, 2005 @ 08:41 am Nicole Simpson / Ron Goldman Murders - 10th Anniversary

O.J. Simpson trial info
It's been 10 years since Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were killed. Seems like everyone remembers where they were when OJ made his famous run in the white Bronco, or when the verdict came down in his criminal trial.
  • Where were you?
  • What were you doing?
  • What did you think at the time?
Now that so much time has passed,
  • what do you think of the way the case was presented?
  • Do you agree or disagree with the verdict?
  • Did OJ get away with murder?
  • If it wasn't OJ, do you have thoughts on who might be responsible?
Post your thoughts!

Current Music: From Hell (the movie)
Hey there everyone. I just joined this community and thought I'd introduce myself. I've been interested in anything to do with real crimes and court trials for about 6 years now. I'm actually majoring in Criminal Justice. My goal is actually to become a Crime Scene Technician. I'm totally in love with Forensics. And yes I know it's cliche, but my favorite tv show is CSI. LOL! Anyway, I'm a bit weird I guess when it comes to things like this because I study up on serial killers in my spare time. And I've been really interested in the JonBenet murder since it happened. Maybe one day I'll be on the team that helps solve it finally. LoL!

(Post from my Livejournal)
(x posted)

This murder occured a neighborhood over in the summer of 1997. I remembering hearing about it as someone jumped out of the car and said something along the lines, "did you hear so-so was murdered?" to a group of people I was with. I did not know this young woman, but many of those I did seemed to know her. She died a horrific death.

There were a few suspects from my neighborhood. One, a guy, who was involved, somewhat, in an insult on me the summer before. Meaning after the gun was stolen, he was the one calling and giving me death threats, but I won't go into that here.

But alas, they never came up with a viable witness and believe it was a passing serial killer that murdered her. This was not the murderers first crime and he was only honing his skills.

All I can supply you with is the last online article that was found. Seems there is nothing else available since, unless I'm just horrible at research. If anyone finds anything more recent, I'd highly appreciate it.

I appologize before hand, it does go into detail, for as much detail as they police allow.

Police still seek slayer of Dormont womanCollapse )

I can't get this case out of my head. Even if it leaves for so long it always manages to pop back in and it becomes an obsession. I hate cold-cases, they depress me. I just wish Cathrine Cokery could find closure.

Jun. 16th, 2005 @ 09:10 am Missing Alabama Teen In Aruba
What do you all make of the investigation into Natalee Holloway's disappearance in Aruba?

So far a total of 5 people have been detained, 3 youths and 2 security guards. The security guards have been released and one of them is apparently talking about some jailhouse discussions he had with at least one of the youths. The trio were originally questioned and then released, sparking speculation that they were not suspects. When they were detained again as suspects, I know I thought that the investigation was being botched. I heard on the radio last night that, in fact, the cell phones and cars related to the trio were actually bugged so that when they were released the police were able to track and monitor them.

There was a report at one point that one person had confessed to killing Holloway, but I've not heard anything more about that.

Finally, the police have searched a lookout point and a beach near the Marriot, some 10 blocks from Holloway's Holiday Inn room, and are also draining a swampy area near the Marriot.

So far, the 17 year old Dutch teen, Joran van der Sloot, looks like the primary suspect, with the 2 Surinamese brothers, Deepak and Satish K, allegedly having dropped the Joran and Natalee off at the Marriot, not her hotel as orignally claimed. According to one report, Deepak received a text message from Joran about an hour later saying Joran would email him when he got home. Joran did not email him later, however, with some leading to surmise that something changed Joran's plans shortly thereafter.

So, thoughts? Anyone think Holloway could be alive? Was she the good girl that she's been made out to be? Is she a victim of just one person, or perhaps the trio?
